AMANI KAMAU is the artist persona of songwriter RJ Jackson, born in the British Virgin Islands and now based in Stoke-on-Trent, UK.
The writing started as journaling — a way of getting things out of his chest when there was no one around who cared the way he did. Years later, he found Suno, and journaling became something more. He writes; the voice answers. The songs become a conversation with himself, played back from the outside.
The sound is cinematic trap soul — moody, nocturnal, jazz-influenced. The songs are his. He shares them because somewhere, someone is carrying the same thing in silence, and hearing it spoken back might be what they needed.
